The New 7 Wonders of the Ancient World- Take a Look

The New 7 wonders foundation formed a partnership with the United Nations back in the year 2007. Due to the UNs efforts to promote its United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals, they came together and drew a new list and posted it on their website. Before the creation of the New 7 wonders the previous list was; the pyramids found in Giza Egypt, the hanging garden found in Babylon, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum at The Halicarnassus, Artemis Temple at Ephesus, The Lighthouse of Alexandria.
Rgardless, there are so many point of views about what the wonders of the world should be here is the new list of 7 wonderful locations:

The Taj Mahal in India
It is a white color marble mausoleum found in Agra, the Uttar Pradesh in the country of was constructed in around 1632 by emperor Jahan after the bereavement of his wife Mahal Mumtaz who died in child birth. This mausoleum is very popular and admired throughout the world as a priceless piece of architect. It was named as UNESCO heritage site in 1983.

The wall of China

The wall is among the new 7wonders, travelling destinations around the world. This wall is made of bricks, sticks, stone, timber and other materials. This man-made structure is the only believed to be visible from space. This wall was built by Emperor Qin Shi Huang about 220Bc and was later rebuilt and maintained by the Dynasty of Ming. It built in an East-West line across the northern part of china and it covers about 4500 miles.

The Chichen Itza in Mexico
This ancient city of Chichen Itza is found on Yucatan Peninsula the country of Mexico. The ancient Mayan city was a religious, economical and political city for several hundred of years. The popular Pyramid of Kulkulkan also known as El Castillo is the most significant of the ruins. It is approximately eighty feet high and has about 9 terraces and 4 sets of stairs with each having ninety one steps representing each day of the Mayan Year.

The famous statue of Jesus is also among the 7 wonders found in Rio de Janiero in Brazil and it is a widely known monument. It is 98.5 feet high on top the mount summit of Corcovado, which is more than 2300 feet in height. This monument attracts a lot of local and international tourists. It is made of concrete and it is approximated to weigh about 700 tones.

Machu Picchu in it Peru
This ancient Incan city is found to rest between the two peaks Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu at about 7710 feet elevation. It is found in the Cuzco region of Peru. It was built in the middle 15th century and it is sometimes called the lost city of Incas since it is hidden in the dense forest and clouds for the last 3 centuries. It was believed to be home of about 1200 residents. It is among the main tourist attraction today in the country of Peru.

Rome Colosseum in Italy
This magnificent structure is among the famous 7 wonders, travel destinations of the world. It is found in Rome Italy and is said to have been built at around 70AD as among the first freestanding amphitheaters. It was believed to hold a capacity of nearly 50000 and up to date it receives thousands of visitors daily. It has been subject to wear and tear from the natural disasters and vandalism over the years. It was built as a sports arena where Gladiators would fight to the death to entertain the audience.

The Ancient City of Petra in Jordan
This is Jordan’s national treasure found at southwest Ma’an Governorate in Jordan. It has tombs, massive ancient temples and monuments found around the sandstone cliffs. It is popularly known as the city of rock from the word Petra. The famous structures of Petra is the Sik al khazneh and locally known as treasury. It is a very historic city and is well known for its organized water drainage system that includes use of ceramic pipes.

Among the old 7 wonders known, the Pyramid of Giza is the only remaining one and it has since been given honorary site by the United Nations. The new7wonders has become a source of economic importance to their respective countries by bringing in a lot of revenue through tourism.
